Ways to Use Solar Power Without Getting a Whole System

Many people would love to add a solar power system to their home for a variety of reasons but cannot afford the initial cost of the system which can be extremely substantial. I am certainly one who has fallen into this category as are many of my friends and acquaintances. While there are tax breaks and credits for doing this, at times the initial cost is still high. For those who want to use solar power but cannot afford the entire system there are some alternatives to still capture and use the sun's free energy that it emits.

The first and easiest is a solar powered battery recharger. If you do use batteries getting rechargeable batteries are the best choice. There are chargers that can be left indoors wherever you have some sunlight that will charge these batteries for you. While you won't be saving that much energy the unit should pay for itself before long and it's nice to know that your batteries were charged for free by the sun. These are fairly inexpensive ways to get started with solar too.

There is also some camping and RV equipment that will charge up devices from rather small solar panels. These are for those who may not have access to electricity at all times, but you can use these panels for whatever purposes you need. Many will use it to recharge smaller electronic devices like a cell phone or even a low power laptop. Shop around as there are lots of different choices and they are changing and improving periodically.

Another way of using solar power is to get an emergency radio that has a solar panel on it. Normally these run on batteries as well but the solar panel will help the radio run and provide a flash light for you to use. These are great for emergencies especially ones of unknown duration.

The idea here is to start small where you can financially and gradually start changing your electrical usage to solar power. You will start to use solar power and get benefits from this type of energy without having to use other forms energy without having to have a huge investment for a home solar system.

If you want to do the right thing and get started with alternatively, friendly, and green energy, it's possible to without spending lots of money. Solar is easy to start with using the hints above to reduce costs yet start making an impact.
